Is this group still around? It seems pretty quiet ...

I was around here lurking many moons ago and you can probably find a couple of my songs on CDII or CDIII.

I've taken to learning some ukulele and have arranged a cover of Tracy Chapman's Give me One Reason. Loads of fun.

Why not check it out, as long as you are still poking around here?

Cheers,
Larry

They don't play any more. They sent all their guitars to Tom, the ones
still left after Moose and Spike's last tour.

Last year, while on vacation, my wife & me met a very nice couple

Yeah, I saw that, election fallout. However, RMMGA is a unique group
within Facebook and is not accessible to the General Public that uses
Facebook. You have to be a member and added to the Group by an
administrator. The political carnage that goes on in the public space on
Facebook is not in FB-RMMGA. I can't even remember if we've ever had a
political dustup in FB-RMMGA like we used to have here all the time.

We can post music, videos and pics, the Gatherings have all kinds of each
posted every year and it's easily accessed. There are gig announcements
and videos, concert vids that were taken. Got a new guitar, post a pic,
want to sell one, post a pic. Want to promote your CD, do it in FB-RMMGA
and FB-worldwide. There are no anonymous posters. We currently have 253
members.

And yes, the One True Tuning is still regularly disparaged, that has not
changed.

Same here. I used to enjoy razzin' Coleman over his trussrod-less Cort,
and who doesn't miss Wereo Scott's Nuclear Warrior diatribes? (did
Scott actually pass away or was that just a rumor?) Lots of traffic

I check it out every few days, but I'm fairly active in a couple of
www.fora - not the soundhole sniffer ones though. :) I tried those, but
it was doing nothing good for my blood pressure.

I won't have anything to do with Facebook, I leave that to the rest of

By way of catch-up, I play a lot of lap steel these days, and like
tinkering with electrics, which I still can't play competently. My
favourite acoustic for fingerpicking, which I acquired a few years back,
is a '92 Maton M300, all-laminate, Gibson '80s double-x style bracing.
I'll be able to call it vintage in a couple of months. :)

Naive as I was, I had never considered string damping until I got
interested in Ry Cooder's electric style.

There's no harm in playing the devil's advocate, and I only play slide
and lapsteel on electric. :)

I quit posting here or any other newsgroup a long time ago. I
started 20 years ago and was along for the ride as Usenet grew
exponentially, then watched the spam increase and participation
decrease as the Web took over. I still drop by once in a while. I
follow some of the Web "discussion groups" now but it's not the same
thing. I'll always have fond memories of the good old days.

heh........ as opposed to here? Btw, RMMGA is a "Closed Group" on
Facebook, supposedly. You have to be a member, added by the Admin, to read
and post on the group, I didn't see your name on the list. What exactly
did you see?
