I wonder what the "BR" in the Blueridge brand stands for. I am betting
it's just short for Blueridge.

This ebay seller has a Blueridge BR-OS for sale and he is saying that
the BR stands for Brazilian Rosewood. I have my doubts.

Still, even with the flaw underneath the bridge, if it stays at that
price, it is almost tempting for a good sounding cheap guitar.

David,

I looked around for info on a Blueridge BR-OS... What I could find
wasn't too good. One guy who had one reported terrible tone at low
volume and several different problems with cracking and loose
binding....

The BR most certainly doesn't indicate Brazillian... All Blueridge
models, including mahogany, have it in the model designation.

The crack is... well, a crack. It could remain as is for a long time,
or maybe not. The saddle looks pretty pretty good, but I wish the
seller would have given some indication as to the action.

If the price stays about where it is, it really might make a decent
campfire guitar..... I just hope you don't end up throwing it IN the
campfire... :-)

I think you, Tom and Geezer are right on. Just the fact that the
seller is trying to pass this off as Brazilian Rosewood is enough to
make me shy away.

I don't believe this is a Blueridge from the
recent Oriental guitar company. It appears to be
one of the Gibson subsidiaries from around the
'70s which if it's Brazilian rosewood then its
still a laminate version.

I notice that the label inside says Saga but that
is not the type of label my Blueridge has and the
headstock definitely looks like the old
Gibson-made Blueridges.

I'd be very suspicious myself.

Believe it or not, Tom is correct on this one! ALL of the new Asian made
Blueridge guitars have one of two headstock shapes, neither of which is
the one in the eBay ad, and a Martin style pickguard.

I think that the Blueridge on fleabay has been out of production since the
early 80's.

$56 is about what it's worth.
